Palomar College
Palomar College offers a comprehensive Registered Dental Assisting (RDA) Program, which is distinguished as the only nationally accredited RDA program in North San Diego County. Certified by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB), the program equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel as dental assistants.
Program Overview
The RDA Program commences every fall semester and spans two semesters, preparing students to:
- Assist dentists chair-side and in laboratory settings.
- Manage dental practice operations.
- Perform radiographic procedures.
- Place pit and fissure sealants.
- Conduct coronal polishing.
- Implement infection control measures.
- Understand the California Dental Practice Act.
Program Costs
The estimated total cost for the RDA Program is under $5,000, covering tuition, textbooks, materials, health fees, uniforms, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Additional expenses include physical exams, immunizations, vision and dental exams, and CPR certification.

Admission Requirements
Prospective students must:
- Complete prerequisite courses: DA 50 (Introduction to Dental Science and Dental Occupations) and DA 57 (Dental Sciences and Anatomy).
- Achieve a minimum grade of “C” in each prerequisite course.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Be at least 18 years old.
